Ruth Kotler has been blessed to serve in PK-12 education for nearly twenty years, as a teacher, principal, instructional coach, and district curriculum director.  I understand what works as far as increasing student achievement and I enjoy providing support to both school leaders and teachers so they can experience the kinds of successes I have enjoyed.  In one district, I increased scores of inner city youth from the 20th percentile proficient to above 75% proficient in less than three years.  We won the Governor's Award for Academic Excellence.  In another, I was responsible for increasing the Performance Index by 12 points in less than a year (as compared to 1.5 points across the nation for the same time period).  I'm currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Western Michigan University. in the areas of education and educational leadership.

As Executive Director, Academic Services at Mansfield City Schools I led the development of all aspects of Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching and Learning, and Educational Resources. Using various forms of instructional technology: wikis, podcasts, streaming video, online resources and learning,I helped teachers integrate technology into their classrooms. I also acted in the Superintendent's capacity when he was absent from the district and served on the Superintendent's Executive Cabinet.

At A+ Educational Solutions, Inc., I was involved in all aspects of district and school Leadership, Central Office Transformation focused on increasing student achievement, designing Curriculum and Instruction aligned to state and common core standards, and Mentoring/Coaching Teachers to increase student achievement. Methods of professional development included whole group, individual, and online learning experiences for faculty, administrators, and staff.

Dr. Kotler is an instructor for both undergraduates and graduate students, in the area of Educational Leadership, at WMU's main campus and several satellite locations. Her approach integrates active learning with opportunities for students to delve deeply into a variety of educational topics, think critically, and learn practical skills for increasing student achievement in the classroom and among all students. Traditional as well as online and hybrid courses are facilitated.
